Here are some rules of thumb for previsualizing the lenses you will need.
21mm - all of your peripheral vision with both eyes
35mm - your field of view with your eyes facing forward
50mm - the part of the 35mm scene you can remember a minute later
85/90/100mm - the field of view of one eye.
